Fiona Mwenda

Research Consultant, UK

Fiona began working for The Research People in 2019. She is a Senior Research Manager and has worked on research, evaluation and strategy projects for TRP in both a project manager and project lead capacity. Her projects include project-managing the first half of the fieldwork component for ALNAP’s State of the Humanitarian System, the midline of an impact evaluation for the Humanitarian Innovation Fund and an evaluation of UNHCR’s Innovation Fund. She is currently working on a third party monitoring project for Grand Challenges Canada’s Creating Hope in Conflict programme, and an evaluation of Reset’s Homes for Ukraine matching service in the UK.

Before joining TRP Fiona worked in refugee resettlement and community-based protection for UNHCR, RefugePoint and ICMC, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Nairobi, Kenya; and Assosa and Mekadida in Ethiopia. She holds an MSc in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies from the University of Oxford.

Fiona is a reflective, analytical and strategic thinker with a strong humanitarian ethos. She enjoys working collaboratively with clients, team members, researchers and affected communities. She is particularly interested in issues related to forced migration and displacement, and locally-led humanitarian response.

Fiona is looking for a role that would allow her to use her research, evaluation and field experience to generate evidence of what works, and interrogate and adapt humanitarian programmes. She would value the opportunity to work collaboratively with people with lived experience of crises, to promote a diversity of perspectives at the forefront of her work.
