Lydia Tanner

Founding Director, UK

Lydia started The Research People in 2017 to bring together researchers from different disciplines, backgrounds, and places to do research and evaluation that would influence humanitarian organisations for the better.

She’s really proud of what we’ve achieved. In the last six years Lydia has led the team to deliver over 80 projects for more than 20 clients, including NGOs, UN agencies and universities. She’s worked on some really great projects recently: ALNAP's State of the Humanitarian System research; GSMA Foundation's research on the Digital Worlds of Displacement Affected Communities; evaluations of MIT D-Lab and Elrha's Humanitarian Innovation Fund; alongside many others.

The work we've done at The Research People has caused us to think more deeply about humanitarian response and innovation and Lydia feels lucky to have done it while building a truly brilliant team. For the next few months, Lydia will be working with the team to wrap up current projects as well as being a mum to her four-month-old.

In the meantime, we’re still doing world-class consulting so please share TORs or other ideas that you think might be a good fit for us. We’re passionate about our work and plan to take on a few special contracts as we work out TRP's direction going forwards.
